Summary of Duties:
The student will be involved in:
- the development of policies related to the environmental release and
import of genetically modified plants / plants derived through
biotechnology;
- the development of risk management strategies related to the release
and import of genetically modified plants /plants derived through
biotechnology;
- the operation of the confined research filed trial rogram;
- this would entail the review of applications for confined field
trials of genetically modified plants / plants derived through
biotechnology, the co-ordination of confied field trial inspections, the
processing and filing of inspection reports, and corresponding with
clients.
The student may also:
- perform literature searches of plant technology/biology related
resources;
- perform other duties related to the operational needs of the office,
when appropriate;
- possibly write a review paper on an area of interest to the student
and the Plant Biosafety Office.
