Donation of dubious intent

I just donated a hefty chunk of change to an acquaintance who desperately needs the money so he can see his kids grow up. I don't know though, about what inspired such an act. Am I a generous soul, or am I simply a yuppie with a martyr complex.

M'thinks the answer is "Both".
