One long gaming-laden weekend
Oct. 29th, 2006 09:09 pmFriday night was a fun and simple thing, mostly geeking out with regards to the larp and generally having fun. Made it back to the girls' place via cab since the final 8 is apparently completely useless on friday nights (ending at Hurdman). The weather was lousy and walking would have sucked.
Saturday was even more fun. The limited run game run by Frances was most enriching, as i had one of the best roleplaying experiences which i have ever had. Rich character personality + fundamental conflict = soul searching, and i am so glad my character was Roman Catholic that time. Getting advice on what to do when you might be going insane is muuuch easier when it's during confession which cannot be held against the individual. :) Thank you Frances, Angela and Josh for helping bring that situation to pass. That was followed by a delightful party where i got some Jodo ideas and general socialization. Pity i couldn't meet up with come people, but i did manage to get through the entire party without sequestering myself like i am usually prone to do. Heck, we eve had fun during the Null hour. :)
Sunday had some more surprises. While it is normal to get ~4-5 people, we had 7. One of us has been gone all summer so it was nice to see him again. The next fellow is new to the Dojo, meaning that i am no longer the youngest neophyte in the place. Ok, i am still the youngest by far but i have more experience then someone finally. Even more stunning is the third member to join us. He is one of the experienced students of O-Sensei Taylor, someone whom has more experience then anyone else in Ottawa. He got a Government job and is joining us, meaning that we have a new pro whom will help us out greatly.
That pro is doing Jodo without a left leg. Yes, we have a Jodoka whom lost his leg due to flesh eating disease yet still practices with more skill then the rest of us. The only thing he is poor at is footwork. :) Seriously though, it was very much informative when i managed to practise Midare-Dome with him. It surprised me to no end to see him there, but he hops like a pro and practises with serious intent.
Only one downside to the weeken *coughs out a lung and throat* Slight illness on my part.
