Seminar update and more
May. 23rd, 2007 12:49 amSo i have returned from the seminar in Guelph and it was good. In fact, good is a bit of an understatement seeing as i both got my ikkyu grade and got ~3 months worth of improvement over 3 days. We had 10 sensei from Japan and they taught us very well. Heck, i was corrected and taught by Namitome sensei whom is the highest ranked and most skillful jodo practitioner in the organization and one of the best ones in the world. They were a sight to behold and their hands seemed like water as they flowed over and into the Jo. On a whole it was most enlightening and useful, with only moderate muscle pain thanks to me using unusual muscle groupings over the seminar. My feet were killing me for the long time walking/stomping on a wood floor all 3 days, but other then that it was mostly ok. Certainly didn't help my sleep deprivation though and i missed m'lady.
Oh, and i got an Okinawan War Oar. To be precise, it is known as an ieku or an eku. Video of it in action at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iE9FG1WcXNU&mode=related&search= It cost me 20 dollars and was due to the generosity of Ben whom donated another 10$. So yeah, i now have a war paddle.
After my class tonight i found out that my mother had the brilliant idea to bike along with the dog on a leash so that the dog could get more exercise or something along those lines. According to the will of murphey, another dog wandered nearby and our mutt hauled my mom off the bike and into a painful crash. It hurts her to move her left arm (not part of the crash) so i will be taking her to the doctor in the morning.
Now i have to crash due to the reality of my situation. Sleep deprivation still hasn't abated, and now i have concerns of finding a job + doing my physics class work + dealing with my injured mother. Damn, the weekend was a good place for relieving some of that concern.
