Happy changes and booooks
Jan. 7th, 2008 05:53 pmWell, first day of Computational Methods in Ecology was quite good overall. Nice prof, good material and a grand total of 5 students in total. 5 students, 2 TA's and one professor. We are all baffled by this as it is both an easy and useful class at a third year level. It means that we have an excellent student to teacher ratio though. Also means that we could easily turn two hour lectures into a single hour and a half lecture on wednesdays with ease, providing me with mondays and fridays off. Apparently other classes at the third year were in similar situations, as the sister class of Ecosystem ecology has ~7 students apparently. The fourth year remote sensing class is also under half of the normal class size. Something is quite odd.
*shrug*
I also made my way to chapters to dispense of my shiny $20 gift certificate. I got a field guide for insects and one for birds of eastern North America. Both of those books will be of value to me, the former for my work with the conservation authority and the latter for my work for the Ottawa Breeding Bird Count program. I finally caved and bought the bloody Irewards card, as I have been avoiding the temptation for years. I figure that chapters is tempting enough that a mere 10% is unlikely to change things much.
