Social time to be had?

So at the moment I am gainfully unemployed and feeling the lack of social interactions.  Is there anyone on my friends list whom is both local and interested in spending some time?  Any parties or events which I am invited to?  I feel very much out of the loop and I am just confident enough to believe it is lack of communication rather then lack of interest on the part of the world.
