Insane weekend, though generally a good in nature. I think that I needed to recover from my week at the new office. My friday night was spent first going to Fandom II to decide upon some new additions to the bulk order then to Carleton to pick it up. I got 3 board games and 3 rpg's.

*Desolation RPG (Fantasy setting + apocalypse + small press mechanics system for the win)
*WOD Slashers (Serial Killers in the WOD)
*WOD Inferno (Demons in the WOD)
*Abalone, a quick abstract board game
*Pandemic, a cooperative game of stopping a plague
*Utopia, a competitive area-influence style game of building monuments.

After that I wound up heading to the opening night snowing of The Watchmen. While there were a number of changes compared to the source material, it was true to the spirit of the piece and the natures of the characters. I would like to see Rorschach from the movie vs Heath Ledgers' Joker. *shudder* I was actually somewhat unhappy with the quality of some of the CGI, I expected a little better. Perhaps a better tailoring of the specific songs would have helped as well, still along the same vein as they used. It's a pity that they didn't keep the unique comic colour scheme. I know that I am complaining, but in truth these were the points of contrast to the awesomeness that was the movie. I got home at 2am.

Woke up at 9am and went for a surprise breakfast with the folks and then they dropped me off at [livejournal.com profile] ironphoenix's place for gaming. Played a game of Stone Age, one of the games I bought on a previous bulk order, a game of Saboteur and a game of Utopia with a break in there for Chinese food. I got home at about 1am which, due to daylight savings time, was functionally 2am.

Woke at 9am once more for a day of Jodo, errands and walking about in the beautiful weather. This was the only restful portion of my weekend, though the previous ones were great fun. I have much reading to do though as my pile has grown to dangerous size. At least I have been able to take some time away from the computer which must be good for me.

WTF?

I think there is something not quite right with me; I was listening to the Republic by Plato and realized that I could punch holes through some of his arguments. I have had very little formal training in Philosophy, hence this should be impossible or at least unlikely.
