Noah and his semi-detatched Kanata home

I came on to my parent's place in Kanata immediately after work so that I could take care of the dog and possibly get some writing done in the quiet. En route on the parkway we saw this odd fog cloud and a dark line on the pavement which turned into a torrential downpour once the bus passed into the area. The rain was absolutely driving and there were flooded roads including multiple accidents in my small little subdivision of Kanata. We managed to get through it, despite the huge amount of water coming down. I dashed into my parent's place and checked around that everything was ok.

The half a foot of water in the basement indicated otherwise. I called in the very limited cavalry and I managed to recall my parents from a wedding reception to help with bailing out the poor basement. Third time it has flooded since they/we moved in in 1990 and some of the measures they had implemented such as the one way valve for the drain helped significantly. I frantically bailed and tried to save as much as I could in the mean time.

End result is that we got it under control, though a good bit of stuff was ruined. Fortunately there is insurance but it also means that the dinner with Eve meeting my folks will have to be put off until a later day. I managed to get home and even here there is strong rain an lightning strikes. Oy, not my day for calm quiet relaxation.
