The Expense of Art

I have decided to continue my dabbling at art, if only to improve my field-sketching abilities in my late bio classes. Because of this (and the fact that my bank account actually looks decent after the last pay) i spent an extravagant amount of money on art supplies. Ok, 20$ isn't exactly extravagant for most people but for myself it is. Bought myself a bakers dozen of artistic pencils, a decent eraser and a hard-back black pseudo-leather sketchbook of 9x11 dimensions.
Got me a 6H, 4H, 3H, 2H, H, F, HB, B, 2B, 3B, 4B, 5B and 6B pencil. Tried them each out so that i would have some kind of reference to use and i definatly prefer the harder end of the scale for my technique. The softer ones seem so.. indistict. I know that theres probably a ton of vital uses for those but i will need to experiment more before i can discover them.
