Firstly, my hunts through the wilds of the internet found this gem.

Secondly, potentially awesome chipotle chili in the slowcooker for this evening which will produce leftovers.

Thirdly, I am dashing off to get me a brand new cellphone which I suspect might cross the line into "shiny" territory. You have been warned.

Last but not least, my one year probation with my employer is now over as of sometime last week. It is officially easier for them to wait for me to retire in 30 years then to try to lay me off without cause.

This is a refreshingly pleasant monday. :)

Congratulations on hurdling probation. 8-) Although I must say that I find a _one_ _year_ probationary period appalling. It takes your employer a whole year to decide whether you have the wherewithal?

While that is true, the flip side is that it enables a lazy employer to hold on to incompetent personnel for a year. Worse yet, your employer could hire a long string of workers over several years, firing each just before they finish their probationary period, thus saving money on salaries and benefits. On the other hand, a year is a real long time to fake it for a potential employee who intends to be lazy and shiftless once the probationary period elapses. ^_^
